Drop Side Large Cot, with Cotton Reel Turned Frame Item number: C10333 Date: early 20th century Price: NZ$500.00 Absolutely beautiful large cot, made with turned wood frame in the bobbin or cotton reel style. Hand belt turned, with oak veneer head board. Cot measures 116 cm high by 147.5 cm long and 77 cm wide. It has a few faults – the headboard has been stripped and oiled, and in the stripping, the veneer has cracked all over. This is not so bad visually, but it gives a rather rather feeling to the touch. The old metal drop side bars have stuck at the foot end – just needs freeing up. The base inside would once have had old metal springs, but these have been replaced with wooden slats, which are too weak at the front – if you actually wanted to put a child in here, you would have to run a beam under the length of the front of the slats to give strength. Visually, it is divine, and would be a hugely decorative, may be for a doll or bear collection, although it is very big. Would date very early 20th century. Domestic New Zealand market only. |

Round Mirror, 1920s, with Moulded Fruits Frame Item number: C9392 Date: 1920s Price: NZ$165.00 Super little 1920s mirror — very shabby chic, with fruit moulded frame (pomegranates, apples, pears, etc). It has bevelled glass which has wear to the silvering on one area. Can either be table mounted for your dressing table, as it has an easel stand (very folk art heart in it), or you can hang it on the wall. Gilded outer edge. Measures 26 cm in diameter. Apart from the wear to the old mirror silvering, there are a few age cracks in the moulding, but it’s all really part of the charm. |
