Silver plate grape scissors in their beautiful original presentation case – the scissors have twist pattern handles with fancy finials. The maker’s mark is for William Hutton and Sons, Sheffield, England. Late Victorian period, late 19th century. Scissors are 17.75 cm long (7 inches). They are in excellent condition, and so is the handsome presentation case. Case is lined with purple silk and velvet.

Vintage fish knives and forks in their original black box. The handles are celluloid (grained to look like ivory) and the tines and blades are silver plated. In very good, but well–used condition. The plating is intact – just one knife has some dark spots (see photo) – but there are scuffs commensurate with use. Circa 1920s.

Attractive late Victorian bon bon dish with lattice and flowerhead design to the rim. Shaped like a heart, it stands on three scroll feet. Quite large, measuring about 20 cm diameter (8 inches). Very nice silver plated handbell – the handle is made in what looks like amber, but is probably bakelite – a lovely deep yellow colour with silver finial. (It is actually a bit deeper in colour than the photo shows). Bell is stamped E.P.N.S. in gothic letters (electroplated nickel silver). Measures 13.5 cm high with a base 5.75 cm diameter. Excellent condition.

Silver Plate Table Bell with Striker

Lovely bell for the dining table (summon the servants to clear the plates away) or for the boardroom (Order! Order!). Silver plated, early 20th century. Stand has a rack for the striker baton. Very nice twist detailing to the supports, with ornate cast bases to the columns. Measures 17.5 cm high, 18 cm wide and 9 cm deep (7 inches by 7.1/8 inches by 3.1/2 inches). With age comes some wear to the plate on the bell where it has been struck to ring (brassy colouration showing through, but still shiny), and some pitting to the plate on the stand base. Overall though, a great little antique item, and rarely seen.

Georgian period Old Sheffield Plate candle snuffers and snuffer tray. The tray looks like it has been gilded over copper internally, but this is now wearing thin, and copper bleed is showing. Rim is still intact plated. Nice decoration to the rim of trumpet flowers and shell scrolls. The snuffers are in very good condition. Some minor plate wear to underneath feet and internal to wick trap. No maker’s mark on either item. Circa 1810. Tray measures 23.75 cm long and 10 cm wide.

Victorian Old Sheffield Plate standish with two pots — one for ink and the other with perforated shaker top for sand (to blot the ink). Pen rests at either side. Gadrooned edge with shell motif handles and paw feet. Measures about 26 cm wide and 18.5 cm deep. Basically very good condition — a few minor nibbles around the (hidden) glass tops of the pots, and some bleed showing at edges of the pen rests and on the ink pot top. No maker’s marks or registration marks.

Victorian silver plated nautilus shell–shaped spoon warmer. Sits on a stand emulating rocks and a clam shell. Shell can be detached from the base by means of a butterfly nut for cleaning. Looks like silver plate on Britannia metal – no maker’s marks. Measures 14 cm high, 16.5 cm long and 9 cm wide. There is quite a bit of wear all round to the plate and crinkling of the silver surface. Quaint item though.

A presentation rose bowl — silver plated from Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England. It has a frilled edge and pretty applied detail of leaves and panels. Small presentation engraving on one side “From the girls at the BNZ. 30.9.1917. Auckland”. On its wooden pedestal, it measures 16.5 cm high. Diameter at top of bowl is 15 cm.
Condition is very good overall, just the one fault — scratches around the rim.

Three-Piece Condiment Set, Silver Plate & Blue Glass

Large open salt, lidded mustard and upright pepper pot — classic design, all silver plated, with the mustard and salt having blue glass liners. Lovely scroll details to the rims, and all have lion’s mask and paw feet. All stamped “Made in Sheffield, England”. Good quality items.
Mustard is 114 mm by 113 mm. Salt is same width. Pepper is 96 mm high. Pepper and mustard are both in excellent condition. The salt has some bubbling underneath the glass liner (where salt has been left on the surface), and to the narrow rim around one side of the liner. Not a noticeable fault. Glass liners are in excellent condition. Very decorative and usable set. Probably dates 1930s–50s.

It has an inscription on one side “Best wishes on your retirement, from your fellow Distribution Managers. 1983.” However, if you used this as a vase, this could be turned away to the reverse side. The bucket is good quality plate, with attractive handles and a nice conical shape with banded detailing. Measures 19 cm high and is 26 cm wide handle to handle. In very good condition. Bottom marked “Sherwood. EPA1”.

A large vase, possibly a rose bowl, originally won as a trophy. Silver plate on copper, with slightly lobed sides, standing on a circular foot rim. Vase measures 17 cm high, and is 21 cm diameter at the top, tapering to the base. Engraved on one side is “The Academy 1983. C.C.”
Maker’s mark underneath reads “Primrose Plate, Canada”. Excellent condition. Inside is a little dirty.
Would look stunning with a great clump of flowers in it.
