Princess Louise (1860–1917) married H.R.H. Arthur, the Duke of Connaught & Strathearn – who was the third son and seventh child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He was the 3rd son and 7th child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and was married to Princess Louise of Prussia. Taken by Russell & Sons, Chichester, England. Card measures 103 mm by 62.5 mm (4.1/16 nch by 2.7/16 nch). Some faint age spots, and is a little faded. Otherwise very good condition. Woman in Mourning Item number: C11517 Date: late 19th century Price: NZ$165.00 Ambrotype of a woman – very severely dressed, possibly in mourning as she appears to be wearing a pair of mourning bracelets. Her belt and choker necklace are highlighted in gold. The embossed case has had a black tape repair to the hinge, otherwise condition is extremely good overall. Early 1920s Film Projector, Ica Teddy Cinematograph Item number: C11048 Date: early 1920s Price: NZ$700.00 Early 1920s hand cranked film projector, still with its original box and set of instructions. It is Ica brand, from Germany, and comes with threading instructions etc, in German – although the threading leaflet is a diagram, so easy to follow. It also comes with a booklet from Ica – a catalogue of their Cinematographs (in English). The reels dismantle and all folds away into its cardboard box. Still has the original cloth–covered rubberised wiring, which would need to be replaced, as it is beginning to perish. In working order otherwise. The electricity lights the bulb – you crank to operate the projector. It was used in the 1920s plus for showing nitrate films by an NZ farming family near Taihape. Looks like 35mm format, but small reels, so you’d be changing them quite a lot. Still, films were much shorter then.... Instructions say can be used for films up to 330 feet long. Small model, measuring 45 cm high with its reels in place. It is in excellent condition. |

Tooled and Bound Photo Album, Mid 20th Century Item number: C10615 Date: 1930s to 50s Price: NZ$59.00 Lovely little photo album, with front covered tooled with shields and other decoration in colour. Back is also tooled, but not coloured. Inside is the old–fashioned black card pages, 24 of them, double sided. Photos inside are what might be Lake Como, or possibly Swiss and Italian scenes of lakes and mountains. Album measures 18 cm by 13 cm and 3 cm thick. It has one little frayed area on the front left top edge, otherwise excellent condition. |

Victorian Period Ambrotype Photo Item number: 0269 Date: late 19th century Price: NZ$165.00 An antique ambrotype photo of an elderly woman dressed in the Victorian fashion — frilled white cap, lace collar, etc. The little case the photo is mounted in has a pretty stamped velvet piece inside the left cover. The case is in quite good condition — the outside is a little rubbed, and has one small chip mark above the left spine on the front cover The spine is intact inside, but the outside is not, so although it is still hinged, it is a little loose. The ambrotype itself is in generally good condition, with only an area of crackle and black loss to the backing behind her left and right forearms. Measures (closed) 8.5 cm x 9.25 cm x 1.25 cm thick. |

Judging by the clothes, this would be early 20th century. The photographer’s title says “A Portrait by Ed. Sharp, 10 Upper Street N.” Possibly London or New York. Card measures 28 cm by 20 cm.
