Strange Vintage Corkscrew Penknife Style Item number: 8419 Date:circa 1950s Price: NZ$10.50.00 This item looks like a pocket or pen knife, but on one side a corkscrew unfolds, and on the other is a flat blade which looks a bit like a screw–driver. It has no thumbnail groove, so is difficult to extract, and it is not hinged, but rather hooked over one end, so detaches. Case is engine–turned engraving 1930s–50s style. Measures 71 mm long and 17 mm deep. Very good vintage condition, whatever it is. Just a few light corrosion spots – these would clean off with fine wire wool. |

Basically very good condition, chrome is ok with no serious pitting, but just general use signs – needs a good polish. The cork on the optic measure is in good condition. Vintage Bar Optics Measure Item number: C9361 Date: early to mid 20th century Price: NZ$115.00 Old optics measure, with lovely domed glass round window as the measure, and clamp bottle support. Chromed. Maker’s marks are Sole Makers Gaskell & Chambers, with various patent numbers. Basically very good condition, chrome is not too bad, has overall pitting, but not peeling – needs a good polish. The cork on the optic measure is chipped, and probably should be replaced. Handle could do with some penetrating oil or similar, and inside measure could do with a clean. Whole contraption measures about 42 cm high. A real beauty! |

Canadian Club Whisky Paperknife, Vintage Item number: C9646 Date: early to mid 20th century Price: NZ$55.00 Old paperknife/letter opener, an advertising promotion for Canadian Club Whisky. The blade has the name on one side, and “Hiram Walker & Sons Ltd, Walkerville, Canada” on the other. The ornate finial and handle have the crowned W trademark on one side and “Branches London, New York, Chicago” on the other. Opener measures 19 cm long (7.1/2 inches). Minor losses to the plate, only tiny, otherwise great condition. |
