Art Deco Bakelite Comport

Item number: 9671
Date: 1920s to 1930s
Price: NZ$72.00

True 1920s–30s Deco comport – probably a fruit bowl – with brown bakelite stand and white bakelite bowl mottled with orange, red and green. There is a plated ring around the bowl where the white and the brown meet, and a plain plated band around the stem. Stem unscrews. This is such a stylish, genuine, piece of the Deco period. It measures about 20 cm high and 26 cm diameter (8 inches by 10.1/4 inches). No maker’s marks. Very good condition -– a few minor scuffs and some small amount of wear to the plating, but nothing or ugly or indeed noticeable.

C8003

Early Plastic Large Dennis the Menace Jug

Item number: C8003
Date: 1950s
Price: NZ$110.00

Large plastic novelty jug (hard shiny plastic — maybe celluloid). Figural shape, Dennis the Menace in cowboy costume with gun for the spout, and hand on holster at other side for handle. The crown of the hat is the lid of the jug. All in painted red, black and silver on cream background. Quite large, measures about 26 cm high and 17 cm wide.
Condition: Some paint losses and brown marks, a crack in the jug rim (the hat brim) and a minor tiny hairline in the hat crown. Some dirt which would clean off.
Very kitsch!
