Pair Alabaster and Spelter Dog Book Ends Item number: C11620 Date:early 20th century Price: NZ$165.00 Quirky pair of alabaster book ends, mounted with painted spelter dogs – terriers with upturned faces. Often with these bookends, the spelter ornament is screwed on, but these have always been just glued, and possibly reglued a long time ago, as the old animal glue has turned a bit orange. One alabaster upright has been reglued at sometime. They measure 15.5 cm high, 14 cm long and 12.5 cm wide. Very good sound condition – not immaculate, but very original, and very much of their period (early 20th century). |
