Made in chalcedony or could be white jade, in the keystone block shape with the letters “H.T.W.S.S.T.K.S” (Hiram, Tyrian, Widow’s Son, Sendeth to King Solomon) in circle. Other side has the keystone penny circle as photographed with triangle to centre. Bale is gold, but not hallmarked. Small repair to one corner of bale. Actual keystone measures 18 mm by 16 mm by 6 mm thick (about 3/4 inch by 5/8 inch by 1/4 inch). Bale is 15 mm long (5/8 inch). Excellent condition. |

Coin Pendant, Lady Liberty Half Dollar 1944, Cut Work Item number: C11422 Date: 1944 Price: NZ$65.00 A pendant, made from a 1944 silver half dollar – the walking Lady Liberty coin with the reverse being an eagle on a rock with wings outspread. This coin has been cut out, so that the face of the pendant is the Lady Liberty with her bouquet of laurel and oak branches walking towards the sunrise. These coins were 90% silver, and this one weighs 8.78 grams or .3095 oz. (I have removed the little base–metal clasp that is in the photo). Measures 30 mm diameter (about 1.1/4 inches). |

Long String Baroque Cultured Pearls Item number: C11343 Date: 1920s to 1930s Price: NZ$788.00 Vintage baroque cultured pearls, strung with a small knot between each pearl and a silver clasp mounted with a small pearl. Each pearl is approx. 8 mm diameter (5/16 inch). There are 82 pearls in total. The necklace is 82 cm long (32.1/4 inches). Condition is very good – there is a couple of frayed strands near the clasp (from knots, not affecting safety), and one pearl next to the clasp has lost a bit of nacre – probably due to use of perfume. 20ct Gold and Blue Topaz Pendant on Chain Item number: C11541 Date: 1960s plus Price: NZ$1600.00 Vintage pendant on chain – the very yellow gold is 20ct or higher (tested to 20ct), and weighs 8 grams. The oval stone is a blue topaz surrounded by a mount of great intricacy – it is decorated with coils of tiny detailed gold rope work. The chain has tiny oblong links with a filling of filigree scrolls. Pendant measures 34 mm by 19 mm including the bale. The chain is 510 mm long (20 inches) and 2 mm wide. This is a really stunning high carat piece of jewellery. Came from a European estate, but no marker’s marks, so origin unknown. |

18ct Gold, Tortoiseshell and Diamond Locket Item number: C10602 Date: early to mid 20th century Price: NZ$1850.00 Beautiful 18ct gold shaped–edge locket (18 grams gold weight), with inset tortoiseshell oval to the front set with ten tiny diamonds. Inside is lined with red fine baize, and there is a photo panel with glass to the right hand side. Locket measures 44 mm by 33 mm and is very slim at 4 mm thick. It is hallmarked 750 (for 18ct gold) on the rear of the bale, and has a maker’s mark which looks like a V in a diamond, in an oval stamp. The owner of this locket told me that it is by a very good maker, but I can’t trace the mark. Certainly it is of high quality manufacture. This is a very beautiful and unusual locket. |

Each alternate link has a pattern of “crocodile skin” style, and the other links are plain. On the rear, each link is engraved with brushed lines effect. Weight is 51.7 grams, and length is 765 mm. Each link is 9 mm wide. A 1997 valuation describes it as Italian Diamond-Cut Flat-Link Curb Chain. It is hallmarked for London 1993. The maker’s mark is C & A J. Excellent condition. The valuation of 1997 was for £615 sterling. Gold has increased substantially since then. |
