Silver Encased Perfume Bottle, 1898 Item number: 2352 Price: NZ$210.00 A sterling silver cased bottle — it is a glass bottle with a little pewter-topped cork stopper, with an elaborate cut work silver casing. The silver is open-work acanthus scrolls and flowers. It carries an English hallmark for Birmingham 1898. Maker’s stamp is A.W.P. The presentation panel is engraved with the beautifully detailed initials “E.N.” (or “N.E.” depending on which way you think it goes). There are some faults — there are a few dents in the silver, and areas of loss to the silver, one very small area by the hallmark, and a larger area to the bottom left of the presentation panel. However, because of the busyness of the design, these are not glaringly obvious. The cork is pewter topped, and a little misshapen. This is a very pretty little bottle from an old family estate. Measures 13 cm high and 5 cm diameter. |

Doubled Ended Ruby Glass Scent Bottle Item number: 3078 Date: Victorian period Price: NZ$360.00 A Victorian-period double-ended scent or perfume bottle, in ruby glass. Would date circa 1890. Measures 10.5 cm long and 3 cm diameter. Octagonal glass body, with brass end caps. The end caps were probably once gilded brass, but are duller now. The bottle is a good weight, and inside each little hinged lid, the bottles have glass stoppers, and there is old cotton wadding inside the lids.
