Pink Depression Glass Dresser Set Item number: 9260 Date: circa 1930s Price: NZ$68.00 Three piece Depression Glass set for a dressing table: tray, lidded powder bowl and candle stick. Pink pressed glass. Tray is 28 cm wide by 17.5 cm deep with a starburst patterned bottom and fluted edges. The powder bowl is 13 cm high and 12 cm diameter. Candle holder is 8.5 cm high. There is only one fault – a chip from the base rim of the candle holder (see photo). |

Amber Glass Flower Frog (Flower Holder) Item number: 8905 Date: early part of 20th century Price: NZ$8.00 Good sized amber Depression glass flower frog – 4 inches, made in England. Possibly by Davidson Glass. Patented 1910. Measures 58 mm high and 102 mm diameter (2.1/4 inches by 4 inches). Has a few faults – yellow marks in glass to the bottom, and a few chips here (not seen when in place in a trough or vase), and one chip and a few cracks to the top. Still does the job however, and these are not apparent. Probably circa 1930s. |

Green Depression Glass Posy Holder with Flower Frog Item number: C11725 Date: 1930s plus Price: NZ$39.00 Round green Depression glass flower holder, complete with its holder frog (the round glass item with holes in it to hold the stems). Posy vase measures 13 cm diameter and 4.5 cm high (5 inches by 1.3/4 inches high). Vase is in excellent condition. Frog has some internal cracks and base marks (these items were often made very crudely as they were not seen) but is in very good solid usable condition and looks fine. |

Pressed Glass Pug Dog and Hat Match Striker or Inkwell Item number: C10947 Date: late 19th to early 20th century Price: NZ$165.00 Which is it? Looks like an inkwell to me, but its owner says Vesta striker and holder (that’s match safe and striker to Americans – vesta matches were the English wax matches that became a generic name). It does have a line of small balls around the base of the cushion the dog sits on, so these may be the striking areas for the match. Whatever it is, it is a lovely rendition in pressed and slightly frosted glass of a dog and a large hat – the dog has its mouth gripping the edge of the hat, and the whole is on a stand with four little legs, all in glass. The dog has a curled tail, and a pug face. Measurements: 9 cm high, 8.5 cm long and 6.5 cm wide. Excellent condition. No damage at all. |

Pair Sowerby Glass Walter Crane Designed Half Vases Item number: C10520 Date: circa 1887 Price: NZ$185.00 Little half round posy troughs or flower spills, made by Sowerby Glass in white pressed glass. The frieze is a Walter Crane design from his series “The Baby’s Opera”. Vases each measure 112 mm wide by about 55 mm deep and 45 mm high with funny little ball feet all along the edges. There are faults: all on one trough, where the underneath edges of the back panel are chipped. Glass on both pieces carries the Sowerby peacock head mark underneath. Circa 1887. |

Muffineer, Moulded Glass Item number: 2443 Price: NZ$98.00 An ornate lidded muffineer, made in heavy quality pressed glass (exhibition glass). It has shell patterns and hobnails. Measures 15 cm high and the scallop-edged base is 20.5 cm diameter. Condition: some minor small chipping to the inside of the lid edge (where it has been raised and put back down over the standing rim on the base), one small raised bit absent off base edge, and a small chip to the base standing rim. There is a cloudy section (see photo) on this rim also, emanating from a small shallow chip on the top, but this is not broken and is not rough to the touch. Overall, this item is in very good condition — the damage mentioned is small in scale and not obvious unless one goes looking. |
