Decorative antique jug, English made, late 1800s. Imari colours of very dark cobalt blue with iron red and pink. Gilded patterns to the top and bottom bands, and also to the handle. Pewter flip lid, with a little ceramic button which when pulled back with your thumb, flips open the lid. (Stamped "Clarke's Patent"). Jug handle has been repaired - old work, but decoratively OK. However, you shouldn't put the handle in warm or hot water, as this can melt the old glue, and the handle would come off. Best not to use the handle. There is also a faint tight hairline under the base. As a decoration it is lovely. You could remove the lid (it pulls out) and use the ug as a vase. Measures about 17 cm high, and 12.5 cm wide handle to spout at the top. Base rim is 10 cm diameter.
