Copper Lidded Dish.

  • NZ$2600

I think this is one of those vintage pans with flip lid that waiters used to clear detritus from diner’s tables. Looks like a sort of chafing dish, but has no liner.  It is made in copper, with three brass paw feet, and a further brass paw which acts as an opener for the lid. There is a screw-in fitting to rear, presumably where a handle was fitted. Gadrooned edge to lid. Has an engraved crest of a winged griffin and shield on the lid. It has some blemishes on the lid - which may buff out, a mark inside (which may polish out) and a few very shallow small indentations, otherwise not bad condition. Very decorative item. Measures 6.5 cm high (not including the brass foot stop) and 16 cm diameter. Made in Italy. Probably dates between 1950s-1970s. Could be good used for a lidded bowl, or keep the car keys in it on the hall table.
